Jack O'Lantern cookies (Very easy, kid friendly)

This recipe is great for , Halloween treats, a Halloween party or just for a festive snack.

Kids love making this Jack O'Lantern cookies because they get to make the faces anyway they want. You can substitute red hot candies, M&M's or any other small candies for the chocolate chips.

(Makes 2 dozen)

½ cup of butter or margarine
¾ cup of sugar
1 egg
4 teaspoons of milk
½ teaspoon of vanilla
Orange food coloring (or mix 10 drops of yellow with 10 drops of red)
1-¼ cups of flour
¼ teaspoon of salt
¼ teaspoon of baking powder
Chocolate chips

1 bowl
1 fork
1 cookie sheet
Measuring cup
Measuring spoons
Teaspoon

1. Take the butter out of the refrigerator
2. Put the butter in a bowl to get soft.
3. Mix the butter with the fork until soft.
4. Add the sugar to the butter. Mix until fluffy.
5. Add the egg, milk, vanilla and food coloring. Mix well.
6. Add the flour, salt and baking powder.
7. Stir with the fork until it is very smooth.
8. Put the bowl in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
9. After an hour have a grown-up set the oven at 375 degree.
10. While the oven is warming up, take the dough out of the refrigerator and take one teaspoon of dough at a time and roll it into a ball.
11. Put each ball on a cookie sheet and flatten it with the palm of your hand. (Don’t put the balls too close together, or you will have just one big cookie)
12. On each cookie use the chocolate chips to make a face, two eyes, a nose, and mouth. Of course your cookie could have only one big eye. Get creative.
13. Bake the cookies for 8 minutes. Let them cool a little bit before eating them. YUM!

Enjoy and Happy Halloween!
